Masjid Us-Sunnah is located in the west side of Madison, Wisconsin, which is the hometown of University of Wisconsin. It is about 10 minutes driving from the down-town/campus. Approximately 250 Muslims attend our weekly Jumuah prayer.
In addition to conducting the daily and Friday prayers, we organize wide variety of activities for Muslims in the area. These include activities such as weekly halaqa, youth program, Sunday school and community service programs, etc.

Eligibility of the Imam
Applicants for the Imam position will be evaluated based on the following eligibility.
Essential Requirements:
• Should hold the beliefs of Ahl-u-Sunnah Wa-aljamah
• Should have sufficient knowledge of the Quran, Hadith, and Fiqh
• Should have memorized a significant portion of the Quran and be able to recite well
• Should be able to interact with the youth and understand challenges faced by them while living in a non-Muslim environment.
• Should be able to provide for their spiritual growth through educational programs and other activities (previous experience required)
• Should have wider view of fiqh issues and be able to obtain fatwa and fiqh opinions as need arises
• Should be fluent in English (spoken and written) and have excellent communication skills
• Should be knowledgeable of the Arabic language, and Arabic grammar, and at a minimum must be able to read the Arabic language and interpret the Arabic language of the Qur’an in a fluent manner.
• Should be living in the US and have a valid work visa
• Should have some experience in conflict resolution
Job Description
Following will be some of the responsibilities and duties of the Imam.
Specific Duties:
• Lead the daily prayers at the Masjid
• Deliver Jum’ah and Eid Khutbah except when there is a guest Khateeb
• Give lectures for the Islamic education of the community on a weekly basis
• Conduct regular Quran learning classes for children in the community
• Lead the Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan
• Should be available as a resource for educational, dawah, and youth programs
• Provide matrimonial services as needed
• Conduct funeral services and assist with body preparation and burial as needed
• Provide counseling and guidance services as needed
General Duties and Expectations:
• The Imam is expected to work about 40 hours a week, although additional time may be needed during Ramadan, Eid, and other special occasions
• The Imam is expected to maintain regular and convenient office hours at the Masjid for members of the community to consult and seek guidance
• The Imam shall interact with all persons and organizations, Muslim and non-
Muslim
• The Imam shall conduct himself at all times in ways that foster unity and a sense of inclusion among all members of the local Muslim community and promote broad participation in community activities
• The Imam shall not discriminate against any Muslim on the basis of Islamic school of jurisprudence, gender, race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship or immigration status, political affiliation, class, or economic status
• The Imam shall adhere to the Bylaws of Masjid Us-Sunnah and the policies set by its Boards and Executive Committee
